Happy Holidays to You All! I hope that everyone is enjoying the season with family and remembering that Jesus is the reason for the season. I wanted to reflect on a deed that I did yesterday. You know the day after Christmas is intended for sleeping off hangovers, returning gift items that we will never use and catching those “After Christmas” deals. All those choices sounded great but after getting 4 and a 1/2 hours of sleep I made sure to keep my commitment and head to a church and help them get Holiday dinner ready. Thanks to a friend of mine she has been connected with the organization and extended the invite to me and and my other friend. As tired as my eyes felt, and the feeling of being in my bed called me I resisted the temptation.

I picked my friend up and we headed over to the church. As soon as we arrived we got into helping mode. We started cleaning the tables, dressing the tables with holiday decor and adding fresh fruits as the finishing touch. Moments later the homeless people from the community filled the dining space ready to receive their holiday dinner. We then stood on the food line and got their plates ready. To see them be excited to receive their food warmed my heart. For a moment their current reality was not a factor. They engaged in conversation with their neighbor accompanied by laughter. For a moment we were all family.

It made me feel good to take time out of my day to give back. This is what the holidays are all about. It has very little to do with gifts and showing social media all the latest items you have racked up on December 25th. It is about family, togetherness, being thankful and spreading love all around. Giving up a part of yourself for those who are in need is what life is all about. If God allows I will make this apart of my tradition moving forward. What have you done for your community ? Who have you lifted up? Who have you made better today? Remember an act of service is an act of love. ❤

6 Months Later

Good Morning and Greetings my fellow followers! It’s been a while since I’ve posted a piece to the blog and put something down for all to see. But I believe its about time. First off, I wanna wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season. I hope that this time of year brings you closer to family and loved ones.
So as you all know I am currently in a relationship. We are in the 6th month of this journey and let me tell you this has not been easy. I never knew how much work is really required to making a relationship stay alive. It takes and incredible amount of understanding, compromise, respect and patience. I will say that I have matured in many ways during this process. It has allowed me to look at something bigger than myself. I do realize that no matter how much you become connected with your partner you should never forget about yourself. Never forget about the goals you need to accomplish. It is important to have a moment of clarity. I know that being very reflective and self aware will make me a better individual and a better partner.

God is really the plug which ignites the power into my relationship. I think being with my boyfriend has made me realize how much HE needs to be present! My boyfriend came into this relationship wanting a deeper connection with God. It wasn’t something forced on him, it wasn’t something I had to beg and plead with him to do. It was very natural and organic. When I heard him continuing to echo the need to be in the Lord’s house months later I knew he was for real. He has in turned deepened my want and need to be in HIS house. It is because of God we have continued to believe in building our foundation. Having patience and staying in prayer has kept me continuing this journey. I have come to learn that a power couple is a praying couple. I embrace the power of patience and prayer on my LOVE journey.
I wish you all peace, LOVE and Light this season. Always remember: “What God protects no man can destroy”. ❤️
